Christopher Columbus

History

Christopher Columbus was an explorer, navigator, and colonizer. He was born on October 1451 and died in May 1508. He was born in what is now Italy. He completed four voyages over the Atlantic Ocean. These voyages helped initiate Spanish colonization. Although he wasn’t the first European to voyage to the Americas, he was the first European to initiate Spanish contact with the Americas. This forever left an impact on History because it led to the European conquest and colonization of the Americas.

Columbus was made an official holiday in 1906. Columbus day is always the second monday of October.

Reflection

If it weren’t for Christopher Columbus then Colonization of the Americas would have maybe not happened for another hundred years or so.
